Farewell and hello

March 25, 2010

Last night she finally past away. She was stronger than anyone could have imagined but in the end everyone loses their final fight. May she rest in peace.

The rest of the world (or at least the Netherlands) was in their best mood. It was finally spring! The sun shined and the temperature rose to 18 degrees celcius. I didn’t care. I shut the blinds and started watching tv while wallowing in self pity. I got to admit that that wasn’t a pretty sight. My girlfriend (who is much wiser than she likes to admit) couldn’t stand the state I was in and kicked me out of the house. She told me that I should run since I’m practicing for a race of 10 English miles. During that run I also experienced the beautiful state the world was in. Didn’t expect that I could feel so content on a day like this.

Sorrow is a natural part of human emotion. We shouldn’t ignore that part of our feelings. But ignoring the world around us because of it is not the way I want to live my life. I will miss my grandma very much but I think I will honour her memory better by living life to the fullest. So next week I will try yoga for the first time in my life.
